Alfred Martinez Engineering is a small engineering firm offering civil engineering design, construction management and environmental engineering advisory services. As sole proprietor, Alfred Martinez, is a licensed professional engineer and licensed A and B general contractor with over 30 years’ design/build experience. His is a local business and minority owned enterprise as defined by the Contracts Monitoring Division of San Francisco City & County.
Project 1
BASE (Bay Area Security Enhancements) Project
BASE was an emergency project responding to 9/11 events. The project hardens vital infrastructure in the toll region covering 2000 square miles.
The system uses state-of-the- art technology to dispatch first responders to any one of seven toll bridges, two tunnels and tubes. The team developed the project without plans or specifications and won an award for project management. A remarkable achievement.

AMBE (Area Bridge Maintenance Engineer) Structures Maintenance and Investigation
Routine and special inspections of fracture critical bridge members: floor beams, girders, portions of the main cables and truss members and routine or close inspection of non fracture critical elements such as floor beams, pedestals, stiffness truss, orthotropic deck and diaphragms.

SFOBB (San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge) Cable Wrapping Project
We wrapped the main suspension cable in several locations along its three mile length. The wrapping was performed to maintain the integrity of the main suspension cable against corrosion caused by the marine environment, ensuring public safety, using force account procedures with a newly designed cable rig.
